
giving back
Some might say that yoga is a gift in itself, and I am one of them. Yoga is the best gift I was able to give myself – I received so many benefits from it that it is only natural I am inclined to give something back. I feel when we spend time giving back and enriching our community we enrich ourselves – we broaden our perception of the world, we better understand the circumstances within the community and with a broad and open-minded perspective we become an empathetic citizen.
There are many ways to give back, and I decided to donate my time by teaching yoga practices to better the lives of others. Currently, I am teaching trauma-informed yoga classes at Silverwater Women’s Correctional Centre, as well as offering accessible yoga classes for the Older Women’s Network. Through these classes, my aim is to build resilience, ignite empowerment, and promote healing throughout our community.
