restorative yoga
Restorative yoga practice is an essential antidote for fast-paced and stressed-out life styles. It is a gentle therapeutic practice where feeling supported and safe is paramount. Each posture in restorative yoga is completely supported by props, encouraging physical and mental tension to dissolve, to allow complete mind & body rejuvenation without strain or pain. These practices create an environment where everyone can explore a sense of softness of the physical body, stillness of the mind and connection with the breath.
It is not an easy practice though – it is seen as the most advanced practice. It is close to a meditative practice and it can be challenging to keep the body still, and even more so to still the mind for a longer period of time. Restorative yoga allows us to relearn the art of relaxation, to create balance between mind & body while developing the skills and abilities to self-soothe. Supported resting poses create the conditions to cultivate the skill of conscious relaxation, and most importantly to release unnecessary habitual tension in the body and mind.
